I had reservations about going back to work after I had Ainsley. I was blessed to stay home with Oakland 4 years ago for 8 months! That time was very special to me and loved getting to see all of his “firsts” and spend every second with him. I did pump EVERYDAY for him for 11 months. I was offered a teaching job when he was 5 months and couldn’t have been more excited! This is what I went to school for….TEACH! I was able to stay home with Ainsley until she was almost 3 months old. I did feel guilty and sad for her because she wasnt getting the same time with me like her big bro. I had to the realization- I am CALLED to be a teacher and she is so young she won’t remember not having this time with me :/
I absolutely LOVE my job and consider it great JOY getting to teach 1st graders all day at http://www.covenantacademyhouston.org ( 7, mind you!!!) how much our heavenly father loves them, I get to integrate Christ into every subject I teach them! I love it!! What is also amazing is that Oakland will be starting Kindergarten in 2015 and his classroom will be right next to mine!!!!!!! ahhhhhhhhhhh Kindergarten!?!?! I can’t even think about that now!
Speaking of age… Ainsley’s 1/2 birthday is next TUESDAY! I so look forward to seeing how much she has progressed and really how much she weighs! I am kind of obsessed with percentages though… so I always hope it’s a high number ( being a teacher 🙂 ) I know God has her little body in his hands and I am so grateful for being able to provide my milk for her thus far!
I did only pump 7 ounces this morning…. ( that’s ONE bottle for her) I used to pump 3 bottles at my morning pump session…. so seeing such a low number this morning did make me sad.
I had to praise God though at that very moment for even getting those 7 OUNCES! Some women can’t produce and I was THANKFUL for producing as much as I have I have even give away 1000+ ounces!!!
pumping is hard, tiresome, timely, and A LOT of work. I wouldn’t change being hooked up to a machine for most of my day. It is so worth it in the end!!!!
wow, I feel I could go on and on talking about being a working mom, being an exclusive pumper… etc…. My kids are about to head in from recess so I need to go be a teacher now 🙂
thanks for being a part of my blog journey and hope you enjoy reading!!
