When I was little I used to play the trust game- where you have someone behind you and you were supposed to fall backwards in hopes that they would catch you. That was a hard game for me to play. I did not want to fall and not be caught.
Trusting someone is a hard thing to do especially if you have been hurt consistently by that person and have been let down by them. Thankfully no one dear to me has hurt me in that way before.
As a mom I want my children to trust me with their lives. I want to be there for them. I want to put their needs above mine. I want them to look to me for advice and guidance.I want to love them unconditionally. I want to be there to pick them up after they’ve fallen off their bike, after they’ve lost a game, after they’ve been rejected, after they’ve been crying. I want to show them the Lord.
This is the way God feels about us. HE WANTS us to come to him with our desires, dreams, wants, needs, hopes, fears, and worries.
He wants us to trust WITHOUT borders. Meaning to Give me faith, give me a faith so strong for you. I may not be perfect but make me be more like you. To trust without any walls up. Trust him fully and fully rely on him.
Why is it SO hard trust God? Because we don’t want to follow anyone else’s rules. We are sinners. We are selfish and want to do what we want to do. ( At least these are how I feel sometimes)
This weekend I encountered something so amazing and I had to TRUST God with everything. My emotions, fears, anxious thoughts, and above all my heart. I keep playing that Hillsong song over and over “Oceans” It is such a beautiful song and it reminds me to be led by the spirit wherever I go and to call upon his name when I may not be as trusting as I’d like to be.
