As you all know Miss Ainsley turns ONE in less than a month!!! I am ALL about re-creating what I see online or in a store. I am sorry but I will not pay $20 for something that with a little time and effort I can make for $3! That is exactly what happened here!
I have been seeing adorable tassel garlands all over instagram and I have seen some for as much as $35.00!!!!!!!!!!! What!?!?!?! I thought to myself there has to be a way I can make this! I googled it and then quickly created my own DIY garland!!!
I am going to show step-by-step what I did.
I got my tissue paper at Hobby Lobby ( 20″x20″) $1.59 for the gold and $1.29 for the pink!
That is UNDER $3.00!!!!!!
I also added some washi tape around the twisty part to secure it 🙂
1. Fold the large sheet of paper in half.
then fold it in half again to make a square. Once it is a square then start cutting up little slits, leaving a little space at the top.
After doing that open it up so both slits are on opposite sides.
then start rolling (tightly) all the way down. Twist to make a circle.
I added washi tape to secure the hole. 🙂
AND VOILA!
You can totally add more tassels so that they fall closer together but I only had enough paper to make this much. I personally like it spread out like this anyway 🙂
Good luck with yours!
XOXO,
Britt
