Hello! I’m Cortney Saunders the creator of Coco’s Hoopla. I make original and custom designed hoop embroidery wall art. I started embroidering in September of 2014 and I am self taught. It started out as a fun Christmas present idea for my family but my older sister kept trying to convince me to do more with it. After I talked her into opening a shop using her amazing artistic talent (Caley’s Creations) I saw how much she loved it and she was finally able to talk me into opening my shop at the end of June this year.
I now have an Instagram (@cocoshoopla) and an Etsy shop (cocoshoopla.etsy.com). I graduated from Cal State Long Beach in 2013 with degrees in technical theatre and communication studies. I spend my days as a nanny to two amazing kids and I spend my nights with my husband and two cats, embroidering, or at Disneyland. I am so grateful for the support of my husband, family, friends, and the Instagram and Etsy communities. This has been an adventure and I’m excited to see what the future holds.

I’ve always loved doing different handwriting all throughout my life and after having countless friends ask me to do different writing projects for them (chalkboards, prints, etc) I finally decided to start my own small shop on Etsy in March of this year! I decided to use wood slices as my “canvas” because I thought it was different, has a rustic touch (which I love), beautiful, and could see a lot of others loving it as well. Everything is completely handwritten by me which I think makes each piece custom, unique, and special. It’s so rewarding seeing others love your work!
