Hi everyone! I’m Leah and I’m so excited to tell you about my shop.
For all my life I have had a passion for art and creativity!! After having my girls, Ella and Kate, a passion grew for fashion and photography. While photography remains just a hobby with my girls, I wanted to go further in my love for fashion, design and creativity!
What started as a fun jewelry making day for my daughter and I, turned into something more! Ella, my four year old loves color and I developed a love for antiques and all things vintage through my late mother-in-law, Kim and my grandmother, Joni. These three have inspired me to really use my creativity.
The name POPtique comes from my daughters love for fun vibrant colors and my love for antiques. Together, we came up with kid’s tassel jewelry that has pops of color. Including beautiful gold, silver or sparkly detail. It wasn’t until later that other moms and friends asked if I made women’s jewelry and that sparked a new idea! My women’s jewelry was inspired by my love of the southwest, although it’s not an antique-style jewelry line, I have always loved vintage navajo jewelry.
What a blessing it has been to be a stay at home mom and create with my girls!! We are enjoying every moment of this fun adventure!
Kilee is a style and DIY blogger who will often alter an existing item or make something herself to get just the right look. One Saturday while getting dressed, she was looking for the right color of gold earring; everything she owned was too yellow. She remembered she had picked up a piece of gorgeous gold textured leather the week before and thought maybe it would work for earrings. She traced her favorite pair of silver teardrop earrings and cut them out.
As she attached the hooks, she could see that the look was perfect; what she didn’t expect was that they felt even better than they looked! The leather was so lightweight, flexible, and comfortable. They didn’t pull on her ears, cut into her neck, or even make a sound. Soon, Kilee started wearing these leather earrings exclusively. When she realized she was even wearing them to mow the lawn because she couldn’t even feel them, she knew she was onto something.
In 2013, Kilee started selling leather earrings and eventually leather cuffs, which had also been spontaneously created as the perfect accessory to one of her outfits. The reaction from their first customers was so positive that Kilee and her husband Soren decided leather earrings were worth pursuing.
Nickel & Suede LLC launched in June of 2014 with Kilee and Soren both working full time from day one. Soren quit his accounting job and together they are working to change the way every woman wears earrings.
The third shop is: Littlemisspepperjewelry and Stacey created matching necklaces for Ainsley and I! Ainsley’s is so delicate and adorable! It’s a small silver heart with an A on it. I also have a heart but on it is an A and O for my 2 kiddos 🙂
Little Miss Pepper Designs is based in the sentiment of expression. I wanted to create designs that express our love for our mothers, grandmothers, sisters, husbands, dads, and friends.
