This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of The J.M. Smucker Company. The opinions and text are all mine. I’m partnering with Folgers® at Walmart through the Share A Cup & A Story campaign to create personal connections within my community
Connections. They are made when two people have something in common. Many times people will make an impact on your life. If you take steps to get to know them. You know almost instantly if you hit it off with someone after talking with them for a few minutes.
Recently we had a new family move in next door and we noticed quickly they were a young family. I hoped the new family would have children. I was so relieved when I found out they did! That was an instant connection we had. We got to talking and noticed we had a lot in common so I invited her over for a cup of coffee. I hoped the new family would have children because I have been wanting to connect with more Moms in my neighborhood!
The day she moved in I went over to introduce myself. She was unloading boxes and I walked up and said “Hi!” She was personable from the moment I met her. A few days later we decided to bring them dinner and a succulent! After dropping off her pizza we chatted for a while and realized we wanted to get together more often! She worked from home like myself.
When she came over for a cup of coffee we talked about what our days are like. We talked about everything from what we were going to cook for dinner that night to how many loads of laundry we have to do in a week’s time and how exhausted we feel sometimes. She had just put her son down for a nap and my little ones were napping as well so it was nice to have some adult time! Chanel is one of the kindest people I’ve met. She is so genuine and down to earth. She even has her own hand lettering business and creates amazing signs and more! Her signs are amazing and I plan on purchasing one for our home! As you know I’m a blogger and I love sharing small businesses!
This is honestly something I want to do more of. I want to invite people over to share a meal together, I want to share coffee with a neighbor I haven’t met yet. I think a lot of us moms, at least me anyway struggle with stepping out of what is comfortable. We have our bubble of friends, sports activities, and things we routinely do as a family each week but it would be nice to mix it up! My conversation with Chanel really inspired me to create more connections in my community. I’d love to invite more neighbors over to share a cup of coffee or even a meal!
Also with school starting back up next week life is going to be even busier than it was in the summer! I don’t want to let moments pass by without really reflecting on them and savoring them.
Let’s vow to make more connections this upcoming year.
Is there someone in your community who is a do-gooder? A neighbor who has just moved in? A teacher who is helping your child succeed?
Be brave and bold and sit down with them and get know them!
Let’s impact our community in a positive way!

I absolutely love this idea! I feel this concept of building community with our neighbors is something that is lost to our generation and we just need to start making it happen. And I don’t know many people who’d turn down having some coffee! Super cute mugs by the way!

Love this! It’s something I’d like to do more of as well. We recently moved into a new neighborhood and have really started making some new connections. I want to continue to be more determined about this.

Yes, it can be so hard at times to put yourself out there to make new mama friends, but so worth it! We just had a new young family move in nearby and I’m so excited to have another mom in the area!
